Jay is originally from the north of England, and started presenting radio shows when he was at university. The boss of the local station heard him and gave him his own afternoon show on Nottingham's Trent FM in 2003.

He's worked at loads of radio stations since then and can't quite believe his university hobby has got him as far as Dubai. The secret, he says, is to "never ask too many questions. Otherwise you might get found out."

Off-air Jay is a keen traveller with Latvia, Australia and Winnipeg all stamped into his passport. A keen gym-goer, you can often find him jogging on the beach and buying trainers he will never wear ("they just look good in the box", apparently).

Hear Jay weekdays 4-7pm on Channel 4, and Fridays 5-8pm.
